Zo'e`
The Zo'e` are a small tribe that lives in northern Brazil. They surround their villages with large gardens in which they grow many fruits and vegetables. Brazil nuts are prized. They make jewlery from the empty shells and spin hammocks from the shell fibers. Cotton is also grown to fashion slings for carrying babies. The Zo'e` are extremely skilled hunters as well.
Both men and women are polygamous, and everybody is equal in society. Even though they face common problems faced by other aborigines like encroachment, they are very curious about the modern world. This curiosity is extremely important in the survival of the Zo'e` tribe. |
